![]() I mean I agree partly with that but again, what does it have to do with the topic? Maybe I misunderstood you(?)Īnd what's that about marketing budget and development budget? I don't understand how you made that connection. Price is not dependant on the inclusion of SP. There are plenty of multiplayer games with no single-player at all and they still charge their full price. That's something you brought in and I don't think it has to do with what I'm trying to discuss here. ![]() There was single-player in the originals (1942, 2, 2142) but it consisted of the MP maps filled with bots and it was more than enough to have plenty of fun offline. Meanwhile you're gonna play hundreds of hours of MP which (like I already said) is and has always been what Battlefield is all about. No idea what argument you were trying to form there. Yes, this is actually "how stuff in real life works. Hell, a single-player story takes up so much more development time.characters, voices, animations, an actual story, maps that you'll walk through once and never again. I also enjoyed Bad Company 2's campaign but I would also have enjoyed more MP content because that's the part of the game that I will be spending much more time on. The fact that you enjoyed the SP in BF games is irrelevant to my point. Gaming is a huge business these days - its about maximizing profits not making the best products - the times when passionate developers made the game they wanted to make are long gone besides indie games (these days most devs in big companies are just normal hired workers - the "real" decisions are made elsewhere most of the time - just my personal opinion).Īlso people still dont seem to have realized that today most games have a bigger marketing than development budget. If you cut costs and can still sell at the same price point you will increase profits and not selflessly invest in the product. This is not how stuff in real life works.
